Constantinato has its roots in Byzantium when Saint Helen, after finding the Holy Cross in Jerusalem, moved part of it to Constantinople and divided it into monasteries. The remaining shavings were mixed with metals to make coin-shaped amulets for the children, which on one side had the image of Saint Helen and Constantine (from whom they were named) and on the other side had Cross with the initials "IC XC NI KA" meaning "Jesus Christ Conquer".
Now, Constantinato is considered among the oldest family heirlooms and jewels, and Christian tradition uses it as a talisman on many occasions.
