Silver Icons are made of pure silver 950 with a selected wooden frame. The painted parts of the image are hand-painted and are reproductions of Byzantine masterpieces.
This tradition began in the early Orthodox years when handmade icons began to be coated with silver or copper, giving each sacred image a distinct form. According to the story, it started as a gift ("Tama" in Greek) in the name of God, not for decorative purposes or to improve the appearance of the image.
Today, we are able to provide a wide variety of Silver Icons with depictions of Jesus Christ, the Virgin Mary, and the Saints in a very large size.
