Ecclesiastical Vigil Oil Candles

Vigil Oil candles are usually oil lamps that light up with the help of a candlestick floating on the oil. Their use dates back to the first Christian period where worship took place at night and a means of lighting was necessary.

To this day, oil candles are an integral part of the Liturgy. They are used at home but mainly in the area of the Holy Temple and their use symbolizes the persecution of Christians during the first years and the Light of Christ.

In our collection you can find Byzantine oil candles, gilded or silver plated, decorated with stones or icons of Saints as well as oil candles for the Altar.
