The miraculous Icon of Panagia Kardiotissa is a type of "Glykophilousa" ("Sweet Kissing") icon, which depicts the Virgin Mary caring for her son, Jesus Christ.
It dates from the 15th century and is attributed to the painter Angelos Akotantou from Crete.
