Byzantine Hand Painted Icon of Saint Platon.
Saint Platon came from Ankara in Asia Minor and grew up in a wealthy family. He was known for his faith in Christianity, which the ruler Agrippino tried to shake with various temptations.
However, Saint Platon remained faithful to Jesus Christ and refused to sacrifice to idols. Enraged, Agrippinus ordered him to be flogged and burned with red-hot rods. After his brutal torture, he was beheaded.
Apolytikion of Saint Platon
Thy Martyrs, O Lord, in their courageous contest for Thee received as the prize the crowns of incorruption and life from Thee, our immortal God. For since they possessed Thy strength, they cast down the tyrants and wholly destroyed the demons' strengthless presumption. O Christ God, by their prayers, save our souls, since Thou art merciful.
