Handmade Byzantine Icon of James the Apostle, Son of Zebedee.
James the Apostle was the son of Zebedee and, together with his brother, Saint John the Apostle and Evangelist, he worked as a fisherman. When they heard the preaching of Jesus Christ, they abandoned their former life and followed him with unwavering faith.
James and John belonged to the Twelve Disciples of the Lord and were present at the Transfiguration of Jesus Christ.
After the Resurrection, James the Apostle engaged in apostolic work to spread the Gospel to distant places. However, in 44 AD, Herod Agrippa ordered his beheading.
