Ecclesiastical Censers

The Ecclesiastical Censer is found close by the Preparation Table where incense is placed on a burning charcoal. The Censer is one of the most significant items in the liturgy as it symbolizes the prayers that are offered and rise to heaven. The Censer has four chains which denote the four evangelists and twelve bells which denote the twelve Disciples of Christ. The base of the Incense symbolizes the humanity of Christ, the fire His divinity and its fragrant smoke reminds us of the fragrance of the Holy Spirit.
