Handmade Prayer Rope with 50 knots from Mount Athos to accompany your daily prayers.
It is knitted from black synthetic thread and ends with a braided Cross and a tassel. After the first 25 knots, the Prayer Rope has a black bead as a kind of marker for the repetition of your prayer. Each knot consists of nine small braided Crosses which symbolize the Nine Orders of Angels.
Prayer Ropes is a long-standing tradition in the monks' life of Mount Athos and they are used in their continuous prayers to God, asking for blessing and catharsis of the soul.
By holding the Praying Rope and praying at each knot saying: "Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner" we declare our humility before the Lord while at the same time we call for help Jesus Christ, the Virgin Mary, the Saints and the Angels who stand for our Salvation.
