Handmade Prayer Rope with 33 knots from Mount Athos to accompany your daily prayers.
The knots are knitted from black woolen thread while each of them consists of nine small braided Crosses which symbolize the Nine Orders of Angels. It bears a metal Cross that is inserted between two black, red or blue beads and can be worn on the wrist for protection.
Prayer Ropes is a long-standing tradition in the monks' life of Mount Athos and they are used in their continuous prayers to God, asking for blessing and catharsis of the soul.
By holding the Praying Rope and praying at each knot saying: "Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner" we declare our humility before the Lord while at the same time we call for help Jesus Christ, the Virgin Mary, the Saints and the Angels who stand for our Salvation.
