Diaphanous Byzantine Icon of Panagia Gorgoepikoos.
The Icon of Panagia Gorgoypekoos is an exact copy of the icon found in the Docheiariou Monastery on Mount Athos dating to the 11th century.
The story says that, in 1646, monk Neilos often passed in front of the icon with lighted torches. When he disobeyed the voice that told him not to pass in front of the icon again with the smoke from the torches, monk Neilos lost his sight.
Realizing his mistake, in the following days he begged Panagia for forgiveness until she heard his prayer and gave him his sight, telling him that the monks of the Monastery should resort to her for all their needs and she would quickly listen to them as is "Gorgoypekoos".
Since then, the miracles have helped many people and her icon has become a very important pilgrimage to Mount Athos.
The Icon is made from the best quality cast Plexiglass, giving the illusion of glass while offering a three-dimensional luxury.
