The brothers Cosmas and Damianos are mentioned as Saints Anargyroi, who acted as doctors during the empire of Karinus, without monetary remuneration but with the exhortation for the sick to believe in Christ.
After being accused of witchcraft, the Saints Anargyroi were brought before the emperor who asked them to deny Christianity. They did not accept but another miraculous event happened during their interrogation: Karinus' head changed position. The Saints healed him with prayer and Marinus was convinced and converted to Christianity.
However, because of the great spread of their name and their cures, their teacher stoned them to death.
