Aged-Wooden Byzantine Icon of Saint Galina.
Saint Galina was one of the seven holy women who, together with Saint Leonidas, were arrested in Troizinia in the Peloponnese and presented before the ruler of Corinth. For their faith they were condemned to martyrdom and to be exterminated they were thrown into the sea, after they were first tied to stones.
Kontakion (Tone 4)
As you contested bravely in Corinth, O wise martyrs,
You appeared as a six–branched radiant lamp.
Illumining the way for Christ’s faithful by the grace that was given you!
The aging technique is meticulously applied to the Icon by hand and gives it the look of time while the depiction retains its artistic details.
Around the perimeter, the aging becomes more apparent with frayed edges that give the Icon a distinctive appearance.
During the final processing, the Aged-Wooden Icon of Saint Galina is polished with a special varnish to withstand time.
Note: The final Icon may slightly differ from the catalog photo.
