Aged-Wooden Byzantine Icon of Saint Spyridon, Bishop of Tremithon.
Saint Spyridon was born in 270 AD in Cyprus and was a shepherd as the rest of his family. He was a peaceful and prudent man, who followed the teaching of Jesus Christ, and became even more devoted to it after the death of his wife.
He was ordained a Priest and because of his devotion to God, he was elected Bishop of Tremithon. According to tradition, he has performed miracles many times.
Apolytikion
O Father, God-bearer, Spyridon, you were proven a champion and Wonder Worker of the First Ecumenical Council. You spoke to the girl in the grave and turned the serpent to gold. And, when chanting your prayers, most sacred One, angels ministered with you. Glory to Him who glorified you; glory to Him who crowned you; glory to Him who, through you, works healing for all.
The aging technique is meticulously applied to the Icon by hand and gives it the look of time while the depiction retains its artistic details.
Around the perimeter, the aging becomes more apparent with frayed edges that give the Icon a distinctive appearance.
During the final processing, the Aged-Wooden Icon of Saint Spyridon is polished with a special varnish to withstand time.
Note: The final Icon may slightly differ from the catalog photo.
