Aged-Wooden Byzantine Icon of Panagia "Amolyntos" Immaculate. The Ιcon depicts Panagia holding Jesus Christ in her arms.
Monk Pavlos of the monastery of Theotokos Euergetis in Constantinople, composed the compline from which the Panagia "Amolyntos" Immaculate took her name as it carries the lyrics: "Immaculate, undefiled, uncorrupted, chaste, bride of God and pure Virgin".
In addition, the Panagia Amolyntos is also known as the Virgin Mary of Passion from the symbols of Passion (Cross, Spear and Sponge) held by the two Angels at the top of the image.
The aging technique is meticulously applied to the Icon by hand and gives it the look of time while the depiction retains its artistic details.
Around the perimeter, the aging becomes more apparent with frayed edges that give the Icon a distinctive appearance.
During the final processing, the Aged-Wooden Icon of Panagia "Amolyntos" Immaculate is polished with a special varnish to withstand time.
