Aged-Wooden Byzantine Icon of Saints Theodores, the Great Martyrs, Tyro and Stratelates.
As Saints Theodores, our Church honors Saint Theodore Stratelates and Saint Theodore of Tyre. Both belonged to the military order and they defended the Christians from pagans.
Both Saints were martyred according to Diocletian's decree against the Christians, but their holy life is glorified to this day.
Apolytikion of Saint Theodore of Tyre
Great are the achievements of faith! In the fountain of flame, as by the water of rest, the holy Martyr Theodore rejoiced; for having been made a whole-burnt offering in the fire, he was offered as sweet bread unto the Trinity. By his prayers, O Christ God, save our souls.
The aging technique is meticulously applied to the Icon by hand and gives it the look of time while the depiction retains its artistic details.
Around the perimeter, the aging becomes more apparent with frayed edges that give the Icon a distinctive appearance.
During the final processing, the Aged-Wooden Icon of Saints Theodores, the Great Martyrs, Tyro and Stratelates is polished with a special varnish to withstand time.
Note: The final Icon may slightly differ from the catalog photo.
