Aged-Wooden Byzantine Icon of Saint Theodosius the Cenoviarch.
Saint Theodosius the Cenoviarch was born in Cappadocia and from a young age he lived according to the teachings of Jesus Christ. He became a monk and was blessed by Saint Symeon the Stylites, who predicted the great monastic life that Saint Theodosios would create.
Over the years, Saint Theodosius became known in the Christian community and many believers visited him to receive his blessing. For this reason the Saint made sure to expand his ascetic cell, creating a large monastery that could accommodate many monks.
He passed away peacefully in old age.
Troparion of Saint Theodosius the Cenoviarch
By a flood of tears you made the desert fertile, / and your longing for God brought forth fruits in abundance. / By the radiance of miracles you illumined the whole universe! / Our Father Theodosius, pray to Christ God to save our souls!
The aging technique is meticulously applied to the Icon by hand and gives it the look of time while the depiction retains its artistic details.
Around the perimeter, the aging becomes more apparent with frayed edges that give the Icon a distinctive appearance.
During the final processing, the Aged-Wooden Icon of Saint Theodosius the Cenoviarch is polished with a special varnish to withstand time.
