Aged-Wooden Byzantine Icon of Saint Alexios, Man of God.
Saint Alexios was born in Rome to a wealthy family, who married him off at a young age despite his reluctance. However, on the first day of his married life, he left his homeland and traveled to Mesopotamia, where he lived as a beggar for at least ten years.
Fearing that his identity would be revealed, he decided to go to Tarsus in Cilicia, but due to a storm, the ship carrying him found a port in Rome. There, he sought refuge in his father's house, without revealing his name, with zero success.
Towards the end of his life, he wrote the entire course of his life, which was read publicly by the emperor Honorius, thus revealing the identity of Saint Alexius, who was buried with great honors.
He received the nickname "the Man of God" because as soon as he breathed his last a voice was heard from heaven saying: "Seek the Man of God in the house of Euphemianus".

You budded from a famous and glorious root; / you blossomed from a royal and illustrious city, O supremely wise Alexis; / you disdained everything on earth as corruptible and fleeting, / and you hastened to Christ the Master. / Always entreat Him to save our souls.
The aging technique is meticulously applied to the Icon by hand and gives it the look of time while the depiction retains its artistic details.
Around the perimeter, the aging becomes more apparent with frayed edges that give the Icon a distinctive appearance.
During the final processing, the Aged-Wooden Icon of Saint Alexios, the Man of God is polished with a special varnish to withstand time.
