Aged-Wooden Byzantine Icon of Saint Chryse.
Saint Chryse had an aristocratic background and had a deep faith in Christianity. She lived in Claudius' empire and was captured by his army because of her faith.
She suffered horrendous tortures, but the faith of Saint Chryse remained unshaken. In 269 AD she breathed her last breath after being thrown into the sea with a stone tied around her neck.
The aging technique is meticulously applied to the Icon by hand and gives it the look of time while the depiction retains its artistic details.
Around the perimeter, the aging becomes more apparent with frayed edges that give the Icon a distinctive appearance.
During the final processing, the Aged-Wooden Icon of Saint Chryse is polished with a special varnish to withstand time.
