Aged-Wooden Byzantine Icon of Saint Moses of Ethiopia.
Saint Moses of Ethiopia was slow to find God's way as he was initially a slave until his master cast him out as he was causing trouble.
Being alone, he became a member of a group of thugs, who committed illegalities and crimes. When they once found themselves in the desert to escape from some of their persecutors, Saint Moses met humble ascetics, from whom he learned the teachings of Jesus Christ.
Then, he decided to be baptized, isolate himself and experience an ascetic life full of prayer and fasting. At the age of 75, robbers stabbed him to death inside the cave where he lived.
Troparion of Saint Moses of Ethiopia
You abandoned the Egypt of the passions, O Father, / ascending the mount of the virtues with fervent faith, / taking the Cross of Christ upon your shoulders; / and being glorified in godly works, / you proved to be a model for monastics, O Moses, summit of the Fathers. / With them, pray unceasingly that our souls may find mercy.
The aging technique is meticulously applied to the Icon by hand and gives it the look of time while the depiction retains its artistic details.
Around the perimeter, the aging becomes more apparent with frayed edges that give the Icon a distinctive appearance.
During the final processing, the Aged-Wooden Icon of Saint Moses of Ethiopia is polished with a special varnish to withstand time.
Note: The final Icon may slightly differ from the catalog photo.
