Aged-Wooden Byzantine Icon of Nonna, Emmeleia and Anthousa.
Saints Nonna, Emmeleia and Anthousa are glorified as they were the Holy Mothers of the Three Hierarchs. With their steadfast faith and spiritual graces, they showed the bright way of God.
Saint Nonna was born in 304 AD in Nazianzo, Cappadocia and was the mother of Saint Gregory the Theologian, who as Patriarch of Constantinople acted against heretics.
Saint Emmeleia came from Caesarea in Cappadocia and was the mother of Saint Basil the Great, who was noted for his charity.
Saint Anthousa raised her son, Saint John the Chrysostom, who is considered a Great Father of our Church.
Kontakion in the Fourth Tone.
The feast of the Mothers shines forth today, come, you who love feasts, let us praise them, crying out: Rejoice Emmelia, together with divine Nonna, and all-praised Anthousa.
The aging technique is meticulously applied to the Icon by hand and gives it the look of time while the depiction retains its artistic details.
Around the perimeter, the aging becomes more apparent with frayed edges that give the Icon a distinctive appearance.
During the final processing, the Aged-Wooden Icon of Nonna, Emmeleia and Anthousa is polished with a special varnish to withstand time.
Note: The final Icon may slightly differ from the catalog photo.
