Aged-Wooden Byzantine Icon of Saint Kalliope.
Saint Kalliope was a martyr of Christianity, who had dedicated her life to the teaching of Jesus Christ. When the emperor Decius declared the persecution of Christians, Saint Kalliope was arrested for her faith and, because of her beauty, they tried to lure her into denying it.
However, she remained faithful to the Savior Jesus Christ, which angered her captors, who tortured her to death.
Kontakion of Saint Kalliope
Shining with the grace of virginity, you offered yourself to Christ in martyrdom, Whose joy you received that surpasses every mind, O all-famed Kalliope; intercede on behalf of those who honor you.
The aging technique is meticulously applied to the Icon by hand and gives it the look of time while the depiction retains its artistic details.
Around the perimeter, the aging becomes more apparent with frayed edges that give the Icon a distinctive appearance.
During the final processing, the Aged-Wooden Icon of Saint Kalliope is polished with a special varnish to withstand time.
