Aged-Wooden Byzantine Icon of Saint Isidoros of Chios.
Saint Isidoros of Chios was in the Royal Fleet when his faith became known and he suffered severe torture in Chios island. His father arrived in Chios sad and asked his son to embrace idolatry again. When Isidore refused, his father became enraged and asked Admiral Numerius to put him to death, which he did.
Apolytikion of Isidoros of Chios
Thy Martyr, O Lord, in his courageous contest for Thee received as the prize the crowns of incorruption and life from Thee, our immortal God. For since he possessed Thy strength, he cast down the tyrants and wholly destroyed the demons' strengthless presumption. O Christ God, by his prayers, save our souls, since Thou art merciful.
The aging technique is meticulously applied to the Icon by hand and gives it the look of time while the depiction retains its artistic details.
Around the perimeter, the aging becomes more apparent with frayed edges that give the Icon a distinctive appearance.
During the final processing, the Aged-Wooden Icon of Saint Isidoros of Chios is polished with a special varnish to withstand time.
