Aged-Wooden Byzantine Icon of Saint Theodore Stoudites.
Saint Theodore was born in 759 AD in Constantinople to a pious family. He became a monk at the Monastery of Sakkoudion, and then its abbot, but after some years he was exiled to Thessaloniki, as he objected to the marriage of King Constantine VI.
Upon his return, he became abbot of the Monastery of Studium, until his second exile. On his return, Saint Theodore was exiled for the third time by Leo the Fifth, because he was in favor of restoring the Icons.
He died peacfully in 826 AD and was at first buried in the Princes' Islands and then in the Monastery of Studium.

You are a guide of Orthodoxy, a teacher of piety and modesty, a luminary of the world, the God inspired pride of monastics. O wise Theodore, you have enlightened everyone by your teachings. You are the harp of the Spirit. Intercede to Christ our God for the salvation of our souls.
The aging technique is meticulously applied to the Icon by hand and gives it the look of time while the depiction retains its artistic details.
Around the perimeter, the aging becomes more apparent with frayed edges that give the Icon a distinctive appearance.
During the final processing, the Aged-Wooden Icon of Saint Theodore Stoudites is polished with a special varnish to withstand time.
