Aged-Wooden Byzantine Icon of Zacchaeus the Apostle.
As mentioned in the Gospel of Luke, the Apostle Zacchaeus was a tax collector of Jericho, who climbed a tree to see Jesus Christ who was approaching the city.
As soon as Jesus Christ saw him, He asked him to get down and lead Him to his house. There, He forgave him all his sins, thus honoring the faith he showed Him.
Apolytikion of Zacchaeus the Apostle
Having justly hated unjust riches, thou didst lay up treasures of salvation; for, receiving the Saviour within thy house, thou, O Zacchaeus, wast truly made marvelous with all the fruits of repentance thou broughtest forth: deeds of mercy, the correction of wrongs, and godly life, because of which we honour thee and call thee blest.
The aging technique is meticulously applied to the Icon by hand and gives it the look of time while the depiction retains its artistic details.
Around the perimeter, the aging becomes more apparent with frayed edges that give the Icon a distinctive appearance.
During the final processing, the Aged-Wooden Icon of Zacchaeus the Apostle is polished with a special varnish to withstand time.
Note: The final Icon may slightly differ from the catalog photo.
