Aged-Wooden Byzantine Icon of Saints Chrysanthos.
Saint Chrysanthos was born in Alexandria to pagan parents, but he himself converted to Christianity, which angered his father who isolated him by giving him Dareia as his wife in order to turn him towards paganism.
But the opposite happened and Dareia was baptized a Christian. The pagans, however, denounced them and they were led to torture with the final punishment being to bury them while they were still alive.
Apolytikion
Thy Martyrs, O Lord, in their courageous contest for Thee received as the prize the crowns of incorruption and life from Thee, our immortal God. For since they possessed Thy strength, they cast down the tyrants and wholly destroyed the demons' strengthless presumption. O Christ God, by their prayers, save our souls, since Thou art merciful.
The aging technique is meticulously applied to the Icon by hand and gives it the look of time while the depiction retains its artistic details.
Around the perimeter, the aging becomes more apparent with frayed edges that give the Icon a distinctive appearance.
During the final processing, the Aged-Wooden Icon of Saints Chrysanthos is polished with a special varnish to withstand time.
