Aged-Wooden Byzantine Icon of Saint Salome the Myrrh-Bearing.
Saint Salome the Myrrh-Bearing was married to Zebedaeus, with whom she had two sons, Jacob and John. She was a cousin of the Virgin Mary and a faithful follower of Jesus Christ. Along with the rest of the Myrrh-Bearers, she attended the martydom of Jesus Christ in Golgotha and anointed His body with myrrh after his death.
She dedicated herself to the great work started by Jesus Christ for the Christian faith and helped with missionary work to highlight His teaching.
Apolytikion for Holy Myrrh-Bearers Sunday
Lowering Your pure body from the Cross, Joseph wrapped it in clean muslin with fragrant spices and laid it in a new tomb. But on the third day You arose, O Lord, and granted the world Your great mercy.
The aging technique is meticulously applied to the Icon by hand and gives it the look of time while the depiction retains its artistic details.
Around the perimeter, the aging becomes more apparent with frayed edges that give the Icon a distinctive appearance.
During the final processing, the Aged-Wooden Icon of Saint Salome the Myrrh-Bearing is polished with a special varnish to withstand time.
Note: The final Icon may slightly differ from the catalog photo.
