Aged-Wooden Byzantine Icon of Saint Xanthippe.
Saint Xanthippe came from Spain and her husband was lord Probos. She embraced Christianity after the preaching of the Apostle Paul and since then she devoted herself to the teachings of Jesus Christ.
Together with her sister, Saint Polyxene, Saint Xanthippe devoted herself to a great Christian work, helping those in need and showing the way to true faith.
Troparion of Saints Xanthippe and Polyxene
You received the light of the divine Faith, / and your works shone with piety, O divinely-inspired Polyxénē; / you glorified Christ in your life / as well as by your blameless actions; / therefore intercede with the Lord Who glorified you, to grant us great mercy.
The aging technique is meticulously applied to the Icon by hand and gives it the look of time while the depiction retains its artistic details.
Around the perimeter, the aging becomes more apparent with frayed edges that give the Icon a distinctive appearance.
During the final processing, the Aged-Wooden Icon of Saint Xanthippe is polished with a special varnish to withstand time.
Note: The final Icon may slightly differ from the catalog photo.
