Aged-Wooden Byzantine Icon of Timothy the Apostle.
Timothy the Apostle was born in Lycaonia and raised with a Christian education. He was familiar with the Bible from an early age and possessed great piety.
During the tour of the Apostle Paul in Lycaonia, Timothy heard the sermon and decided to become his companion in his great missionary work.
He contributed to the spread of the Gospel and reached Ephesus to preach the teaching of Jesus Christ. There, pagans attacked him as he tried to show them the way of truth, resulting in him taking his last breath.
His holy relic was transferred in 356 AD to Constantinople and placed together with the relics of the Apostles Andrew and Luke.
Apolytikion
Since thou hadst been instructed in uprightness thoroughly and wast vigilant in all things, thou wast clothed with a good conscience as befitteth one holy. Thou didst draw from the Chosen Vessel ineffable mysteries; and having kept the Faith, thou didst finish a like course, O Hieromartyr and Apostle Timothy. Intercede with Christ God that our souls be saved.
The aging technique is meticulously applied to the Icon by hand and gives it the look of time while the depiction retains its artistic details.
Around the perimeter, the aging becomes more apparent with frayed edges that give the Icon a distinctive appearance.
During the final processing, the Aged-Wooden Icon of Timothy the Apostle is polished with a special varnish to withstand time.
Note: The final Icon may slightly differ from the catalog photo.
