Aged-Wooden Byzantine Icon of Saint Panteleemon.
Saint Panteleemon was born in Nicomedia in Asia Minor to an idolater father and a Christian mother, from whom she received the knowledge of the Scriptures. He was baptized by Saint Ermolaos and with the help of God, but also his medical knowledge, he cured every disease. Because of his philanthropy, his original name which was "Pantoleon" which meant "all lion", became "Panteleemon" meaning "merciful to all".
He was condemned to death under the reign of Maximian, when he healed a blind man who boldly martyred his healer. After horrific torture, Saint Panteleemon was beheaded in 305 AD.

The aging technique is meticulously applied to the Icon by hand and gives it the look of time while the depiction retains its artistic details.
Around the perimeter, the aging becomes more apparent with frayed edges that give the Icon a distinctive appearance.
During the final processing, the Aged-Wooden Icon of Saint Panteleemon is polished with a special varnish to withstand time.
