Aged-Wooden Byzantine Icon of Michael Archangel. He is depicted holding with his right hand a sword which is a symbol of the authority given to him by God.
Michael Archangel is one of the three Archangels mentioned in Christianity and appears early in the Old and New Testaments. His name means "Who is like EI (God)". Together with the Archangel Gabriel and Raphael, they are God's messengers for the protection of man.
His contribution was pivotal when he saved Lot's family from Sodom and when he presented himself to the Israelites to guide them after their deliverance from Egypt. In the future, as the New Testament states, Michael Archangel will be the one to announce the Second Coming.

The aging technique is meticulously applied to the Icon by hand and gives it the look of time while the depiction retains its artistic details.
Around the perimeter, the aging becomes more apparent with frayed edges that give the Icon a distinctive appearance.
During the final processing, the Aged-Wooden Icon of Michael Archangel is polished with a special varnish to withstand time.
