Aged-Wooden Byzantine Icon of Saint Lawrence of Salamina.
Saint Lawrence was born in Megara and was a farmer when the Virgin Mary appeared to him three times through a vision and ordered him to build a Church in her honor in the northern part of Salamis. At first, Lawrence had doubts and did not set out for Salamis, but the Virgin Mary still commanded him.
When Lawrence finally made the decision, he reached the coast, but due to a big storm, there was no boat to take him across. Then he heard the voice of the Virgin telling him to spread his cloak in the water and climb on it.
In this miraculous way, Lawrence finally reached Salamis and went to the place indicated to him to discover the ruins of the original temple that was built there, and also the Icon of Panagia Phaneromene.
Because of his faith and his miraculous work, Lawrence was declared Saint and fell asleep in 1707.

The offspring of Megara, and adornment of ascetics, the protector of the Monastery of Salamina, the God-bearer Lavrentios, let us honor rightly, O brethren, in hymns and spiritual odes, for he finished the good fight of virtue and faith. Entreat on our behalf, O all-blessed Lavrentios, and protect your monastery and your city through your prayers.
The aging technique is meticulously applied to the Icon by hand and gives it the look of time while the depiction retains its artistic details.
Around the perimeter, the aging becomes more apparent with frayed edges that give the Icon a distinctive appearance.
During the final processing, the Aged-Wooden Icon of Saint Lawrence of Salamina is polished with a special varnish to withstand time.
