Handmade Byzantine Icon of Virgin Mary "Tsampika" and Jesus Christ.
Originally, the miraculous Icon of Virgin Mary Tsampika was located in the Monastery of Virgin Mary Kykkos in Cyprus, from where it was miraculously transferred to the town of Archangel in Rhodes. There, it was spotted by a shepherd who saw a light on the mountain and went up there to discover its origin.
Surprised, he saw the Icon of Virgin Mary lightened up by a candle under a cypress tree which, to this day, emits air from a hole at its base. From this miracle, Virgin Mary Tsambika got its name since, in the local dialect, the word "tsamba" means spark.
After it was found, the Icon of Virgin Mary Tsampika was taken back to Cyprus until it returned to Rhodes again. Since then, the Icon has been in the Holy Temple, built in her honor on the hill.
The Icon of Virgin Mary Tsampika is an exact copy of Byzantine art and is created by experienced craftsmen using the method of gold printing where hagiographic leaves of 22 karat gold are applied in detail to decorate the background.
During the final processing, the icon is painted with dark red color around the perimeter and polished with a special varnish to maintain its shine.
It is offered in level or recessed wooden surface and is suitable for wall mounting.
