Handmade Byzantine Icon of Saint Mamas, Martyr of Caesarea, on Lion.
Saint Mamas was born in Paphlagonia in 260 AD during the imprisonment of his parents. They died during their captivity and Mama's upbringing was taken over by a wealthy Christian woman, Ammia.
When Saint Mamas was fifteen years old and declared his faith without hesitation, the ruler Democritus handed him over to the emperor Aurelian, who condemned him to horrible martyrdom.
With the help of the Lord, the Saint survived his tortures, however, as the pagans were determined to exterminate him, they impaled him with a trident and left him to die.
Troparion of Saint Mamas
Divine offshoot of the Martyrs, / you followed their steps with longing, / and while proclaiming the Savior's Name, you were marvelous in the contest, / O wise and glorious Mámas; / entreat Christ God to grant us great mercy.
The Icon of Saint Mamas is an exact copy of Byzantine art and is created by experienced craftsmen using the method of gold printing where hagiographic leaves of 22 karat gold are applied in detail to decorate the background.
During the final processing, the Icon is painted with dark red color around the perimeter and polished with a special varnish to maintain its shine.
It is offered in level or recessed wooden surface and is suitable for wall mounting.
