Handmade Byzantine Icon of Saint Kristo, the Gardener.
Saint Kristo the Gardener was originally from Albania. He moved to Istanbul at the age of 40 and worked as a gardener. Once he came face to face with a Turk, who wanted to buy apples from him but did not agree with the price that the Saint had set. In order to avenge him, the Turk falsely reported that Saint Kristo had promised to embrace Mohammedanism.
The city authorities arrested him and a trial followed, where Saint Kristo declared that he would never deny his religion, Christianity. For this reason, he was imprisoned and subjected to horrendous torture. After seeing his unwavering faith, an order was given for his beheading.
The Icon of Saint Kristo the Gardener is an exact copy of Byzantine art and is created by experienced craftsmen using the method of gold printing where hagiographic leaves of 22 karat gold are applied in detail to decorate the background.
During the final processing, the Icon is painted with dark red color around the perimeter and polished with a special varnish to maintain its shine.
It is offered in level or recessed wooden surface and is suitable for wall mounting.
