Handmade Byzantine Icon of Jesus Christ's face imprinted on the Holy Napkin.
According to the story, King Abgar V of Edessa was suffering from leprosy when he sent his secretary Ananias to locate Jesus Christ to heal him. When Ananias finally found him, Jesus Christ was unable to go to Edessa (today's Antioch). Instead He washed His face and wiped it with the napkin of Ananias on which His face was miraculously imprinted.
Ananias then handed the Holy Napkin to King Abgar who believed in the miracle, converted to Christianity and was healed.
The icon of Jesus Christ, the Holy Napkin is an exact copy of Byzantine art and is created by experienced craftsmen using the method of gold printing where hagiographic leaves of 22 karat gold are applied in detail to decorate the background.
During the final processing, the icon is painted with dark red color around the perimeter and polished with a special varnish to maintain its shine.
It is offered in level or recessed wooden surface and is suitable for wall mounting.
