Byzantine Hand Painted Icon of Saint Prochorus the Apostle and Deacon.
Saint Prochorus the Apostle was one of the Seven Deacons who took care of the community of the poor in Jerusalem and one of the Seventy Disciples chosen by Jesus Christ to preach His teaching.
After the Dormition of the Virgin, Saint Prochorus the Apostle was exiled to Patmos together with Saint John the Theologian. On his return, he was ordained Bishop of Nicomedia by the Apostle Peter, but he was tortured to death by the pagans.
Troparion
Holy apostle Prochorus of the Seventy; entreat the merciful; to grant our souls forgiveness of transgressions.
