Byzantine Hand Painted Icon of Saint Parthenius, Bishop of Lampsacus on the Hellespond.
Saint Parthenius came from the region of Bithynia. He grew up in a pious family and was taught the teachings of Jesus Christ from an early age.
Like many Apostles, Saint Parthenius was also a fisherman. His income, however, from his profession, he made sure to allocate to his fellow human beings, those who had greater needs than him. Because of his charities, the Bishop of Melitopolis Philippos ordained him an elder, while after several years he was ordained Bishop of Lampsakos.
Throughout his Episcopate he remained humble and close to his flock. Believers from faraway places traveled to receive his grace and witness his miraculous work. He died in peace.
