Byzantine Hand Painted Icon of Saint Xenophon, of Constantinople.
Saint Xenophon was a resident of Constantinople with his family during the reigns of Justin I and Justinian. They were wealthy people but humble, and always close to the Word of God and faith. Once, the ship carrying the two adult children of the family to Phoenicia was wrecked, but they were rescued. After this miracle, the two children traveled to Jerusalem to follow an ascetic life.
When Saint Xenophon and his wife, Maria, discovered that their sons dedicated themselves to God, they decided to follow them and leave their life in Constantinople. They indulged in great charity and lived a virtuous life until their death.
Troparion
O God of our Fathers, / always act with kindness towards us; / take not Your mercy from us, / but guide our lives in peace / through the prayers of Venerable Xenophon and his family.
