Apostle and Evangelist Saint Matthew was originally from Galilee and followed the profession of tax collector. He met Jesus Christ in Capernaum, where the Lord saw him outside the customs house and told him to follow Him. Matthew did as he was asked without hesitation and from that moment he became one of the most faithful Apostles and disciples of Jesus Christ.
For a decade he preached Christianity to the nations and wrote the famous "Gospel of Matthew" in 64 AD. He was martyred in Ethiopia.
