Byzantine Hand Painted Icon of Saint Hermolaus.
Saint Hermolaus acted together with Hermippus and Hermocrates in the outskirts of Nicomedia during the years of the emperor Diocletian. He passed on the medical knowledge he possessed to a young student of his, Pantoleon, who later baptized him and named him Panteleimon.
The ruler of Nicomedia, enraged by the preaching of Saint Hermolaus in favor of Christianity, ordered his arrest, and then, his beheading. Hermippus and Hermocrates were beheaded at his side.
