Byzantine Hand Painted Icon of Saint Epiphanius, Bishop of Cyprus.
Saint Epiphanius was born into a poor family without significant education, but he was taught the Scriptures and the ascetic life by Lucian and Hilarion.
He then fled to Palestine to devote himself to prayer and asceticism. Quickly, his name became known and he was appointed bishop of Constantia, Cyprus. As a bishop, Saint Epiphanius made sure to strengthen the faith of his flock with teachings and sermons inspired by the Holy Bible and the life of Jesus Christ.
He passed away peacefully in 403 AD.
