Handmade Byzantine Icon of Saint Tatiana, Martyr of Rome.
Saint Tatiana lived during the reign of Alexander Severus in Rome. She grew up with Christian education from her parents and became a deaconess in a Roman Church. Her faith made her known, as did the selfless help she offered to those in need, and for this reason she was captured when the persecution of Christians began.
When they arrested her, they took her to a temple to offer sacrifice to the idols but Saint Tatiana refused. Instead she prayed to Jesus Christ and miraculously the idols collapsed and shattered before her and her captives. Afterwards, they tortured her by throwing her into the fire and to the beasts, but Saint Tatiana always came out alive with the power of God, until her enraged tormentors decapitated her.
Troparion
Your lamb Tatiana, / calls out to You, O Jesus, in a loud voice: / “I love You, my Bridegroom, / and in seeking You, I endure suffering. / In baptism I was crucified so that I might reign in You, / and I died so that I might live with You. / Accept me as a pure sacrifice, / for I have offered myself in love.” / Through her prayers save our souls, since You are merciful.
The Icon of Saint Tatiana is an exact copy of Byzantine art and is created by experienced craftsmen using the method of gold printing where hagiographic leaves of 22 karat gold are applied in detail to decorate the background.
During the final processing, the Icon is painted with dark red color around the perimeter and polished with a special varnish to maintain its shine.
It is offered in level or recessed wooden surface and is suitable for wall mounting.
