Byzantine Hand Painted Icon of Saint Artemius, the Great Martyr.
Saint Artemius was an official of Constantine the Great. He was assigned to receive the relics of Saint Andrew from the city of Patras and deliver them to the Church of the Holy Apostles in Constantinople.
During his stay in Patras, he helped the needy and the elderly, while also overseeing the rebuilding of the aqueduct.
When Saint Artemius was informed of the persecution that Julian the Pervert was inflicting on the Christians of Antioch, he hastened to control the situation, which he did. But the enraged Julian arrested him and ordered his torture and beheading.
Apolytikion of Saint Artemius
Thy Martyr, O Lord, in his courageous contest for Thee received as the prize the crowns of incorruption and life from Thee, our immortal God. For since he possessed Thy strength, he cast down the tyrants and wholly destroyed the demons' strengthless presumption. O Christ God, by his prayers, save our souls, since Thou art merciful.
