Byzantine Hand Painted Icon of Monk-Martyr Saint Anastasius, the Persian.
Saint Anastasius the Persian was born in the region of Rasnuni with the name Magundat. After many miracles performed by the Holy Cross, Magundat converted to Christianity and was baptized in Jerusalem, by taking the name Anastasius.
During his visit to Caesarea, the commander Marzavanas ordered the torture and beheading of Saint Anastasius, because he remained faithful to Christianity and did not deny Jesus Christ.
Apolytikion of Monk-Martyr Saint Anastasius the Persian
Thy Martyr, O Lord, in his courageous contest for Thee received as the prize the crowns of incorruption and life from Thee, our immortal God. For since he possessed Thy strength, he cast down the tyrants and wholly destroyed the demons' strengthless presumption. O Christ God, by his prayers, save our souls, since Thou art merciful.
