Handmade Byzantine Icon of the Martyrdom of Saint Stephen, the First Martyr.
Saint Stephen was the first martyr of Christianity and one of the seven deacons chosen to oversee the common fund of Christian brothers. He was devoted to the Word of God and preached the Truth of Jesus Christ with reverence.
With slanders of blasphemy, the Jewish people brought Saint Stephen before the Council to apologize, but he blasted them for their hypocrisy.
Blinded by hatred, they dragged him out of town and stoned him to death.
For his religious virtues, he was given the gift of performing miracles.
Apolytikion
For the struggles you endured for Christ God, a royal diadem crowns your head, O First Champion of Martyrs. For you refuted the folly of the Jews and beheld your Savior on the right of the Father. Ever beseech Him, therefore, for our souls.
The Icon of the Martyrdom of Saint Stephen is an exact copy of Byzantine art and is created by experienced craftsmen using the method of gold printing where hagiographic leaves of 22 karat gold are applied in detail to decorate the background.
During the final processing, the Icon is painted with dark red color around the perimeter and polished with a special varnish to maintain its shine.
It is offered in level or recessed wooden surface and is suitable for wall mounting.
