Handmade Byzantine Icon of Saint Sabbas, the New, of Kalymnos.
Saint Sabbas of Kalymnos was born in 1862 in Kalymnos and from an early age he felt the need to devote himself to God. Starting from Mount Athos, he headed to Jerusalem where he stayed for about 26 years.
In 1926, he returned to Kalymnos and began his monastic life at the Convent of All Saints of the island. He was known for his mercy and the compassion he showed to his fellow man while with the gift of miracle-working given to him by God, he confirmed his holiness.
Ten years after his death, when the exhumation took place, it was found that his remains were fragrant.
