Byzantine Hand Painted Icon of Saint Natalia.
Saint Natalia lived with her husband, Saint Adrian, in Nicomedia during the reign of Emperor Maximian. According to tradition, he met a crowd of Christians who were willing to testify about their faith and thus he too was convinced of the Savior Jesus Christ.
After confessing his faith, he was imprisoned and Saint Natalia encouraged him not to deny Christianity. Finally, after much torture, he passed away.
The relic of Saint Adrian was buried in Argyroupoli, Byzantium where Saint Natalia settled and was buried after her death.
Apolytikion of Saint Natalia
Thou didst deem that Faith which hath salvation to be riches never lost or plundered. Thou forsookest thy fathers' impiety, and thou didst follow thy Master, becoming rich in His divine gifts, O glorious Adrian. With the godly-minded Natalie, who emboldened thee, entreat Christ God, O Martyr, that our souls be saved.
