Handmade Byzantine Icon of Pentecost.
After the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, the Disciples returned to the Mount of Olives and patiently waited for the Descent of the Holy Spirit, as their Lord had promised them. With this divine presence, the students became Holy Apostles and began their work throughout the world to teach the Word of God.
The feast of Pentecost derives its name from the Greek word "pentecostē" (meaning the 50th day), because it happened on the fiftieth day after the Jewish Passover. It is considered as a great celebration as it symbolizes the birth of our Church, under the protection of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
Apolytikion (Plagal Tone Four)
Blessed are You, O Christ our God, who made fisherman all-wise, by sending down upon them the Holy Spirit, and through them, drawing all the world into Your net. O Loving One, glory be to You.
The Icon of Pentecost is an exact copy of Byzantine art and is created by experienced craftsmen using the method of gold printing where hagiographic leaves of 22 karat gold are applied in detail to decorate the background.
During the final processing, the icon is painted with dark red color around the perimeter and polished with a special varnish to maintain its shine.
It is offered in level or recessed wooden surface and is suitable for wall mounting.
