Byzantine Hand Painted Icon of Saint Kalliope.
Saint Kalliope was a martyr of Christianity, who had dedicated her life to the teaching of Jesus Christ. When the emperor Decius declared the persecution of Christians, Saint Kalliope was arrested for her faith and, because of her beauty, they tried to lure her into denying it.
However, she remained faithful to the Savior Jesus Christ, which angered her captors, who tortured her to death.
