Byzantine Hand Painted Icon of Thomas the Apostle.
Thomas the Apostle became one of the Twelve Disciples of Jesus Christ when the Lord called him to follow him. He was a very faithful disciple, but he doubted the Resurrection of the Lord, as he had not seen it himself.
When Jesus Christ again appeared before his disciples, Thomas touched His wounds and exclaimed: "My Lord and my God."
Since then, Thomas the Apostle engaged in a great missionary work after receiving the illumination of the Holy Spirit and the blessing of the Lord.
He traveled as far as India to preach the Gospel but was captured by King Misdaeus, who ordered his torture and death.
